Italy are the overwhelming favourites to receive a bank bailout this year according to bookies Ladbrokes.

Financial punters didn't have to wait long before being paid out on a Spanish bailout at 1/3 and it's now just 1/2 that Italy's banks follow suit before the end of the year.

It's 10/1 that the bailout happens during the Euro 2012 football tournament and in terms of the lifespan of the currency the firm have slashed the odds it disbands before the end of 2013 to 8/11.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes told Bettingpro: "The odds suggest Italy's banks are now firmly in the cross hairs. The most recent bailout has failed to impress and we've now slashed the odds the Euro no longer exists as we know it by the end of next year."
