With every Premier League player available for selection, I’ve highlighted a few of the players to look out for, as well as one or two bargain buys.

Goalkeepers - Manchester United and Chelsea may concede less goals than the other teams, but their keepers probably won’t earn you the most points. Edwin Van der Sar will miss a significant amount of games for United, while injuries have affected Petr Cech’s availability in the past two seasons. Liverpool only conceded 28 goals last season and Jose Reina kept 18 clean sheets, so at £4.7 million he could be the man. For managers looking to save on their keeper (geddit??) then look no further than Everton’s Tim Howard, a snip at £4 million with only 33 goals conceded last season.

Defenders - It’s worth taking a look at the Arsenal back-four here, with Toure and Gallas the most expensive at only £4.6 million apiece. Ferdinand or Vidic could be worth a bit more at £5.2 million, particularly Vidic, who popped up with two goals last season. Joleon Lescott could be great value at £4.5 million. The Everton man scored 8 goals last season in a team that only conceded 33 goals.

Midfielders - Cristiano Ronaldo will set you back a huge £9.2 million, but if he repeats last year’s form it would be money well spent. Fabregas and Gerrard may be slightly more within budget at £5.8 million each. Tim Cahill at £4.3 million, Luka Modric at £4 million and Elano at £4.2 million should all get a few goals and assists. Michael Carrick could also be a bargain at £3.8 million.

Strikers - Fernando Torres isn’t cheap at £8.4 million, but the Spanaird will score plenty, as will Didier Drogba at £8 million. Emmanual Adebayor is available at £7.7 million and bagged 24 goals last season. Jermain Defoe was revitalised by his January transfer to Portsmouth and could prove a great bargain at £6.9 million.
