Spain 5/1 to win World Cup are Euro 2012 success

European champions Spain are now 5/1 to win the World Cup in 2014, according to Ladbrokes.

Vicente Del Bosque's side cruised to victory against Italy on Sunday night, and their historic treble of international tournament wins has seen their odds of making it four out of four cut to 5/1 from 6/1.

With £30m bet across the bookmaking industry Ladbrokes can report that £62 a second was bet in-play as punters all over the United Kingdom wanted a slice of the action.

Spain are given an early quote of 7/2 to lift the 2016 European trophy, and it is 22/1 for the World Cup and Euro double.

Ladbrokes spokesperson Jessica Bridge told Bettingpro.com: “It's not very often we cheer on Spain but tonight they've saved us an absolute fortune as punters piled in left, right and centre to the Italians.”

She added: “We'll be toasting Spain's success with a glass of Sangria tonight.”
