Germany v Italy latest odds – Italians 7/4 to qualify for final

The Italian national team will look to put domestic controversy to one side when they face Germany in tonight’s Euro 2012 semi-final.

This is another international tournament where the Italian build-up has been marred by scandal and match fixing. However, Italy have gained momentum at Euro 2012 and they are the dark horses.

Italy are 11/2 to lift the trophy and are 7/4 to make it past Germany . At the start of the tournament the Italians were 14/1 to lift the trophy with William Hill.

If you fancy them against the Germans, you could take the 5/6 for Italy or the draw in 90 minutes.  They are 2/1 to win draw no bet but they may be fatigued after their quarter-final and they have not got the form of the Germans.

Italy just about came through their quarter-final clash against England on penalties after a dominating display which in truth should have been over and done with before the clock ticked to 90 minutes.

Andrea Pirlo has been the outstanding individual thus far for Italy and currently stands at 8/1 to be named the player of the tournament. If Joe Hart had done his homework, he may have saved the penalty as Pirlo has previous for chipping goalkeepers from the spot.

Antonio Cassano (8/1 first goalscorer) has been consistent and Mario Balotelli (13/2, first goalscorer) has grown into the tournament, whilst Antonio Di Natale (10/3, anytime scorer) has been a threat coming off the bench. Nobody is sure which players will start the match as some may be fatigued after 120 minutes of football against England.

Germany are going in search of another victory as they look to make it to the Euro 2012 final. They are 6/4 favourites for the title having opened the tournament at 3/1. After fourteen competitive victories out of fourteen games including qualifying, they look the team to beat.

They are 10/11 to beat Italy in ninety minutes and they never got out of second gear against Greece.

The outstanding players for Germany have come in the form of two players that ply their trade in Madrid. Mesut Ozil (7/2, first goalscorer) has been brilliant. His movement and accurate passing has set up so many attacks for Germany, the one thing missing is a goal.

The other man is Sami Khedira (16/1, first goalscorer). With Bastian Schweinsteiger sitting in midfield Khedira is given licence to roam forward and with that comes assists and goals. His ball set up Gomez against Portugal and his stunning volley gave Germany their second goal and the lead in the quarter final against Greece.

Mario Gomez is the favourite to win the golden boot this summer after his three goals in the group stage. He is 15/8 to be top goalscorer at Euro 2012 and 9/2 to score first against upcoming opponents Italy.

Miroslav Klose is the same price (9/2) to open the scoring as he staked a claim for a starting berth in the victory against Greece.

If you fancy the match to go to penalties, it is 5/1. Over 2.5 goals (13/10) looks a good bet, the Italians do not look strong at the back and the fatigued side could be taken advantage of by a sensational German attack.
