Euro 2012 is also known as the 2012 UEFA European Championship and the finals will take place in Poland and Ukraine between 8 June and 1 July 2012. 

Sixteen teams from across Europe will compete over a three-week period for the ultimate prize in European football, with Spain having won the last  UEFA European Championship tournament four years ago when beating Germany in the final.

The Spanish are favourites to win their third consecutive major tournament, having triumphed at World Cup 2010, with Vicente Del Bosque having a talented squad of players at his disposal, with Spain opening their Euro 2012 campaign with a match against Italy on 10 June.

There are four groups containing four teams who will compete for quarter final places at Euro 2012, with Poland v Greece being the opening match on Friday 8 June. 

Poland are co-hosting the tournament along with Ukraine and the matches at the UEFA European Championship will take place in both countries, with the final being played in Kiev on Sunday 1 July.

Group A contains Poland, Greece, Czech Republic and Russia in what is regarded as an evenly-matched section, while Group B looks highly competitive considering that the Netherlands, Germany and Portugal all feature.

Group C contains champions Spain as well as Italy, while England and France are the favourites to emerge from Group D.
