X Factor Final 2011 odds - Little Mix now huge favourites to beat Marcus

Little Mix are now a best price of 4/11 to win an underwhelming X Factor competition
Amelia Lily was eliminated from X Factor 2011 and tonight Little Mix look set to defeat Marcus Collins in the final in Wembley Arena.

Simon Cowell was back on the X Factor on Saturday night as he gave his opinions on the show via a satellite link at the live event in London's Wembley Arena. Cowell showed in just a few short minutes what the X Factor has been missing, with his 'cheeky' questions about presenter Caroline Flack's romances with Olly Murs and Harry Styles and his shots at Louis Walsh's new hair transplant.

It seems certain that 'Syco' will have to return next year as the X Factor has pulled in on average 3 million viewers per week less than it did in 2010 and, worse than that, has lost out in the ratings war to Strictly Come Dancing. Who will be with him is unknown but it seems unlikely that it will be Kelly Rowland or Tulisa Contostavlos, who have behaved like petty children, with Kelly even failing to show up one week after a "bullying" row with Tulisa.

The N Dubz star will, however, have the last laugh as her girl band, Little Mix, look set to win this year's competition. They were endorsed by Cowell on Saturday evening and the bookmakers are now running scared cutting them from 11/8 before Saturday's show to a best price of 4/11, at William Hill, on Sunday morning.

Kelly lost her last act, Amelia Lily, on Saturday evening but that wasn't a huge surprise as the 17-year-old had missed several weeks of this season's X Factor after being eliminated earlier in the competition by Rowland. Amelia will go on to bigger and better things but she was never going to be able to win over the public, who had formed allegiances to the other finalists.

Amelia's exit has meant that Marcus Collins is left as the main competition to Little Mix and the 23-year-old is now 5/2 at bet365 to win the X Factor. Marcus has led the betting for much of the series but Gary Barlow's protégé looks to have fallen at the final hurdle, possible due to a lack of personality and charm - smiling and shouting "woo hoo!" doesn't appear to have done it for him.

One question that remains is how will this year's contestants fair in 2012, when they embark on solo careers. Last year's winner, Matt Cardle, scored the Christmas Number One with 'When We Collide' but his debut single 'Run For Your Life' only charted at number six, while runner-up Rebecca Ferguson's 'Nothing But Real Love' peaked at number 10 in the UK charts.

One Direction and Cher Lloyd have fared much better since finishing third and fourth in 2010, with both acts scoring number ones this year. William Hill are betting on how many of this year's contestants will reach the top of the charts in 2012 and make it 6/4 that there are another two or 11/8 that there are three or more.

It is, however, 9/4 that either one or none of this year's acts reach number one and, given how unpopular X Factor 2011 has been, that could be the value bet.
