The World Sheepdog trials take place on Thursday and the Scottish duo of Bobby and Joe are favourites to win the trials
Bobby Dalziel and Joe are the bookies favourites to win the 2011 World Sheepdog Trials according to
Ladbrokes.
The Scottish handler is 10/1 to kick on from his Scottish Championship victory to secure the biggest prize in Sheepdog handling although he appears to face stiff competition from incumbent Champion Aled Owen & Roy at 12/1.
If a European dog is to be crowned the bookies feel the main threat comes in the shape of Tobjorn Jaran Knive and Maico from Norway who arrive hot on the heels of a Continental Cup victory and the pair currently trade as joint 12/1 second favourites. Top ranked Swede Henrik Nilsson is a 25/1 chance to win with Bozz from live outsiders Katia Maines & Loki (also of Sweden) at 33/1.
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes told Bettingpro: "As the betting suggests it's going to be ultra competitive but we think Dalziel & Joe have what it takes to be top dog. Holder Owen would be a popular winner and if the trophy is going abroad it's heading to Norway with Knive & Maico".
The trials will be broadcast by More4 from Thursday the 15th at 7.00pm
