Sports Personality Of The Year takes place this weekend and William Hill make Tony McCoy their 4/5 to win the award, but to win he will have to beat the curse of the SPOTY favourite.

Amazingly the favourite has been beaten the last four years and with a very strong field there is a real chance that it could well happen again. Graeme McDowell is the 7/2 second favourite with Graeme Swann the 8/1 third favourite at Hills

The last favourite to win the competition was Andrew Flintoff (1/33) back in 2005. Since then, Darren Clarke (1/4), Lewis Hamilton (4/9), Rebecca Adlington (5/6) and Jenson Button (8/11) have all been overlooked for the title. 

“Our Sports Personality betting is very popular every year but our punters have been stung in recent years as the favourite has fallen at the final hurdle. Favourite backers will be hoping that McCoy can swoop to victory as he did on Don’t Push It in the Grand National,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.
