Ryan Tubridy odds-on to leave RTE

RTE have vowed to trim their wage bill and Late Late Show host Ryan Tubridy could be the first to leave the station.

Paddy Power has made Late Late Show host Ryan Tubridy the 4/5 favourite to be the first to leave RTE following its boss saying high earners should “either take a pay cut or go”.

Ryan, who has had to deal with a lot of criticism of late over falling viewing figures for his Friday night chat show and poor listenership figures to his 2fm morning show, is seen as the most likely candidate amongst RTE’s elite to pack it all in and jump ship.

Second favourite on the bookies list is ‘man of the people’ Joe Duffy at 6/1, golden girl Grainne Seoige at 7/1 and King Kenny himself at 8/1. New face on the block Daithi O’Se is further down the list at 12/1 alongside Derek Mooney and Kathryn Thomas. Dustin the turkey is the rank outsider at 50/1 to fly the nest.

Sharon McHugh, spokesperson for Paddy Power, told Bettingpro:

“Losing Ryan would come as a major blow to RTE but with stations across the pond rumoured to be interested in hiring him he could be easily persuaded to bid RTE farewell.”

Next to leave RTE
 4/5     Ryan Tubridy
 6/1     Joe Duffy
 7/1     Grainne Seoige
 8/1     Pat Kenny
10/1     Marian Finucane
10/1     Miriam O'Callaghan
10/1     Eamonn Dunphy
12/1     Daithi O'Se
12/1     Derek Mooney
12/1     Kathryn Thomas
16/1     Marty Whelan
50/1    Dustin the turkey
