Paddy Power now face a whopping payout of almost €200,000 following a massive patriotic punt on Ireland.

The odds on Ireland winning this year’s Eurovision are still a very tempting 20/1 with Paddy Power but that hasn’t stopped punters ploughing behind Niamh Kavanagh and co doing the double and bringing the title back home.

Sharon McHugh, spokesperson for Paddy Power, explained: “The support for Ireland has been absolutely incredible. As the odds show, we still face an uphill battle as there are a lot of great entries this year but our punters are very optimistic!”

Meanwhile, Azerbaijan are still the red-hot favourites to beat although their odds have drifted slightly to 2/1. Another big mover on the bookies list is Germany who are well fancied at 3/1 while Denmark and Georgia look to have a decent each-way chance at 14/1 and 33/1.

Paddy Power are also offering betting on Ireland’s eventual finishing position. It’s 3/1 we finish in the top four and just 5/2 we finish anywhere between 5th and 8th place.
