Mo Farah BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2012 odds cut after second Olympic gold

LONDON, ENGLAND - AUGUST 11: Mohamed Farah of Great Britain celebrates winning gold in the Men's 5000m Final on Day 15 of the London 2012 Olympic Games at Olympic Stadium on August 11, 2012 in London, England. (Photo by Stu Forster/Getty Images)
Mo Farah's double Olympic gold has seen his odds of winning Sports Personality of the Year slashed although he faces stiff competition from Bradley Wiggins and Jessica Ennis.

Mo Farah is 9/4 to be Sports Personality of the Year after his wonderful achievement last night in adding the Olympic 5000 metre Title to his 10000 metre gold medal seven days earlier;

The Team GB athlete was, however, just one of a number of Britons to shine during London 2012 with the likes of Jessica Ennis, Bradley Wiggins, Chris Hoy and Andy Murray all walking away with gold medals. The betting indicates that it is currently between Wiggins, Farah and Ennis for the award although that could well change over the next few months.

Bet Victor pokesperson Charlie McCann told Bettingpro:

“The fact that Golden Girl Jessica Ennis who did all that could be asked of her and more in the Heptahlon is 8/1 shows the quality of the field this year and with the possibility of Rory McIlroy landing the PGA Championship and Andy Murray a US Open title to go alongside his Olympic title it is certainly a vintage year; Bradley Wiggins remains 8/15 fav after his Tour De France rather than Olympic Gold but Farah’s is surely the greatest single achievement by one British competitor at a single Olympic Games.”
