Is there anyone apart from the Clangers on the moon?

With the discovery of water on the moon in the last week, by the Indian space program, out of this world bookmaker Paddy Power is betting that the existence of life on the moon will be confirmed before 2015, at 33/1.

Up to now the rough terrain and the lack of an atmosphere on the planetary satellite has made the chances of life surviving very remote, especially when up to this week it was thought that there was no water.

Now with this discovery, the chances are a little better and the fictional characters ‘The Clangers’ just might have had a chance!

Paddy Power is also betting on when man will next walk on the moon, where 2015 or later is odds on at 1/5.

The last time man stepped foot on the moon was in 1972, but with the discovery of water there it could see a new mission, however it seems unlikely this year at 50/1.

Patrick Tohill, interplanetary spokesperson for Paddy Power, said; ‘This discovery could see man living on the moon sooner than we expect, it could also mean that there already are life forms up there. You never know, they could be living in the craters and caves just like the Clangers!, only time will tell.’
