Twilight star leads betting in ‘rising star’ category

Twilight star Kristen Stewart is the bookies favourite to win the 2010 ‘Rising Star’ Bafta, following the announcement of the five person shortlist today.

The 19-year-old is 4/7 with SkyBet, followed by Skins actor Nicholas Hoult, and fellow Brit Carey Mulligan, who appeared in the Golden Globe nominated ‘An Education’, who are both 9/2 with the firm.

SkyBet’s entertainment spokesperson Helen Jacobs told bettingpro:

"Golden Globe nominee Carey Mulligan would arguably be the critics' choice but given that this award is voted by the public, Twilight star Kristen Stewart can rely on the support of hoards of ‘Twi-hards’, which makes her a worthy frontrunner."

Completing the list of nominees are US actor Jesse Eisenberg, who played the lead role in Adventureland, who is available at 7/1, and French actor Tahar Rahim, who played the lead role in French film ‘Un Prophete’, who is a 12/1 long-shot.
