Bookmaker Paddy Power today announced their favourites to scoop the top awards at the 66th Golden Globes, after the nominations were announced yesterday. Amongst the British hopefuls are Kristin Scott Thomas, Ralph Fiennes and Hugh Laurie but it’s Kate Winslet who all eyes will be on come 11th January.

Kate Winslet’s nomination for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress brings to seven the number of Golden Globe nominations received by the stunning actress. The English rose is 3/1 behind Anne Hathaway at 6/4 to win Best Actress for her role as April Wheeler in the movie Revolutionary Road, and 15/8 behind Penelope Cruz at 7/4 to win Best Supporting Actress.

The nominees for Best Actor include some of Hollywood’s finest - Sean Penn at 15/8, Mickey Rourke at 9/4, Leonardo DiCaprio at 7/2, Frank Langella at 4/1 and Brad Pitt at 6/1.

As expected, Heath Ledger is the 1/4 red hot favourite to walk away with the globe for Best Supporting Actor after his stunning performance as the Joker in the latest Batman flick – The Dark Knight.

Sharon McHugh, spokesperson for Paddy Power said: “The Golden Globes are hugely important in Hollywood and often give a good indication as to who the likely Oscar winners will be. This year the only clear cut winner looks to be Heath Ledger, the rest of the categories are very close making for an interesting Academy Awards year!”
