A fake Oscars winners list circulating the Internet has sent Paddy Power’s Academy Awards betting crazy and punters aflutter. The Irish bookmaker slashed the odds on Amy Adams from 14/1 to 9/4 in the space of just one day to win Best Supporting Actress after hundreds of punters piled on the American actress.
The organisers have insisted the list of winners is a hoax but if Amy Adams does throw up a shock at this year’s Oscars Paddy Power will be left with a hole in their pocket for more than €39,000
According to the document, other big winners at the 81st Annual Academy Awards will include Kate Winslet for Best Actress, Mickey Rourke for Best Actor, Heath Ledger for Best Supporting Actor as well as Slumdog Millionaire for Best Film and Danny Boyle for Best Director.
Sharon McHugh, spokesperson for Paddy Power said: “We’re not expecting any big shocks at this year’s Oscars but if they were to throw up a surprise the Best Supporting Actress category is probably the most likely, so fake list or not we’ll be keeping a very close eye on Amy Adams!”
