Engelbert Humperdinck is singing for the UK and his song Love Will Set You Free is one of the best at Eurovision 2012 but the veteran crooner has been hampered by a nightmare draw.

The UK pulled a massive surprise when announcing Engelbert Humperdinck as their entry for Eurovision 2012 but it seems to have been something of a masterstroke. The 75-year-old's song Love Will Set You Free is not necessarily a classic to match those in the Hump's back catalogue, which has sold over 150 million worldwide, but it is still a very pleasant number.

However, the UK have been hit by a woeful draw in Saturday's final, opening the show for 25 other acts. As viewers of the X Factor know, being first is the equivalent to being last when it comes to winning votes. Finland opened Eurovision last year and could only finish a poor 21st while Azerbaijan were favourites in 2010 before a sixth place disappointment.

The jury votes will count for something and the UK won't be disgraced in Baku but they won't be winning, which is a shame as old Engelbert had a chance.
