Eric Pickles heading to Chinatown in Manchester? Ladbrokes pay out!

Related Articles
Eric Pickles has cost Ladbrokes money during the past two Conservative Party Conferences and they are have just paid out on the DCLG Secretary attending Chinatown

Eric Pickles was even money to be spotted in a restaurant in Manchester's Chinatown during this year's Conservative Party Conference, according to Ladbrokes, with the Tory giving his backers plenty of joy by guzzling a chow mein on Wednesday.

The bookmaker had rekindled its popular novelty market for the third time after the DCLG Secretary visited Harry Ramsden's at the Tories' Brighton Spring Forum and an Indian restaurant at last year's Birmingham Party Conference. In both cases the bookies offered odds for his visit and he subsequently tweeted photographs of himself in the venues with the comment "Pay Up Ladbrokes!"

Ladbrokes estimates it lost a tidy sum in both instances and were forced to slash the odds based on Pickles' past performance.

Richard Royal of Ladbrokes told Bettingpro: "This market has become one of our most popular around conference time and Eric always seems up for the challenge! I think his fortune cookie might just reveal another 'Pay Up Ladbrokes' message."
