David Dimbleby is reportedly ready to quit Question Time and Boylesports are betting on his replacement at the BBC

There’s a question mark over who will present the BBC’s flagship political programme Question Time if David Dimbleby steps down and bookmakers Boylesports think the answer is 2/1 favourite Jeremy Vine.

Vine, the current presenter of Panorama and Radio Two’s popular lunchtime phone-in programme, is ahead of sometime Question Time stand-in and Today show heavyweight John Humphrys (3/1) and Newsnight presenter Jeremy Paxman, at 4/1.

Dimbleby, who has presented the show for 17 years, has reportedly threatened to resign over plans to move operations to Glasgow. Boylesports go 5/6 he retires from his role this year.

Paxman’s Scottish Newsnight colleagues Gavin Esler (5/1) and Kirsty Wark (6/1) are also given a good chance, while controversial Glaswegian comic Frankie Boyle is a 100/1 outsider. Former Scotland footballer Andy Gray is looking for work following his recent sacking as a Sky Sports pundit after he made sexist comments about a female official. He’s 500/1 for the gig.

Boylesports.com Public Relations Executive, Nicola McGeady told Bettingpro:

“It’s a high profile job and the biggest names in political programming will be clamouring for David Dimbley’s post if it becomes available,

“Jeremy Vine would fit the bill for the Beeb, but there are a number of big-hitters on the list who have significant links to Scotland and that has to go in their favour if the show moves to Glasgow.”
