O’Brien now look a shoo-in at 1/3 to win this year’s prestigious music prize having been backed in from an opening 6/1.The Choice Music Prize is considered the Irish equivalent to the Mercury Music prize and will be judged on the night by twelve media professionals representing Irish print, radio and TV.Other acts fancied to do well on the night include James Vincent McMorrow whose odds have shortened to 4/1 from 7/1 and The Cast of Cheers whose odds were slashed from 10/1 to 6/1. Fight Like Apes who were the bookies early favourites have toppled in the betting to 12/1.Sharon McHugh, spokesperson for Paddy Power told Bettingpro: “Over 85% of the bets taken on this year’s Choice Music Prize have been for Villagers so it’s fair to say it’s been one-way-traffic.
