Having scooped a ridiculous amount of Brit awards between them, Take That (7 Brits) and Robbie Williams (16 Brits, 3 with Take That) reunited last year to bring the world the five piece boyband that they once knew. Their number one album Progress helps make Take That odds on favourites (1/3) to take the best British group gong at this years ceremony.

The other four bands on the shortlist include perhaps one of the breakthrough artists of the year, Mumford & Sons (3/1). Mumford had a stonking year in 2010 bringing their hybrid of indie and folk to the UK music scene. Their album Sigh No More peaked at 3rd in the UK album charts and brought them success on the other side of the Atlantic too!

Biffy Clyro, the Scottish rockers and Mercury music prize nominees are still reeling from the success of their 2009 album Only Revolutions. The album went platinum and peaked in the UK album charts at number 3. Having released Bubbles, God & Satan and Many Of Horror (which was name changed and covered for 2010’s X Factor winner’s song) as singles throughout the year they could be a good shout at 12/1.

Virtual band Gorillaz and Mercury prize winners The xx (both 14/1) complete the shortlist but it could be difficult to see anyone but Gary, Robbie, Mark, Jason & Howard taking the award on the night!

Where the money’s going:

Sky Bet customers agree with Joe: Take That have been the best supported act by far and have been backed into 1/3 from 2/5. Mumford and Sons have been nibbled at at 3/1.

Sky Bet’s entertainment betting expert Helen Jacob said:

I don’t think Take That are home and hosed and wouldn’t want to back them at 1/3. I can see another upset like in 2009 when Take That were beaten by 5/1 shots Elbow. Biffy Clyro appeal to me at 12/1 to cause an upset or Mumford and Sons look a safer bet at 3s.
