The Rose of Tralee betting is hotting up and Paddy Power now make the Queensland Rose 11/8 favourite

Paddy Power have shortened the odds on Queensland Rose Tara Talbot winning this year’s Rose of Tralee festival further to just 11/8 as bets continue to pour in for the marketing student.

The pretty brunette has been the most backed rose by far with one punter sticking his neck on the line and risking over €400 at odds of 5/2.

Sharon McHugh, spokesperson for Paddy Power told Bettingpro: “We’ve seen a steady stream of support for Tara and her odds are getting shorter all the time. However as the saying goes – it’s not over ‘til the fat lady sings!”

Another Rose threatening to put a hole in the bookies pocket is Wexford Rose Mary Kehoe at 6/1. Although less money has been wagered on her she has plenty of home support and has been the most backed Irish rose so far.

Paddy Power are also offering wacky odds around colourful host Daithi O’Shea. The Kerryman, who likes nothing more than a good sing song, is odds-on at 4/7 to break into song and duet with one of this year's roses and 25/1 to accidentally rip one of their dresses!

The Rose of Tralee festival will be broadcast Live this evening and tomorrow evening on RTE from 8pm.
