The nominees for the 2012 Video Game BAFTA have been announced and Batman:Arkham City is a marginal favourite in what looks a very tough market to call.

Following on from yesterday’s announcement of the nominees for this years Video Game BAFTA Awards, top bookmaker Paddy Power has today opened a book on the ‘Best Game’ category for this years ceremony.

The early favourite according to Paddy Power is the critically acclaimed action-adventure game ‘Batman: Arkham City’ at 5/2 closely followed by role playing number ‘The Elder Scrolls V – Skyrim’ and first person puzzle-platform ‘Portal 2’ which are both available at 11/4.

Further down the list is ‘The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword’ at 5/1 while the latest in the EA’s FIFA series ‘FIFA 2012’ and Rockstar’s ‘L.A Noire’ prop up the market at 6/1.

Paddy Power told Bettingpro:

“It’s rare for us to have such a keenly contested category for an awards ceremony, in our eyes there are three frontrunners but I don’t think you could call it a surprise if any of the six nominees came away with the prize.”

5/2     Batman: Arkham City
11/4     The Elder Scrolls V - Skyrim
11/4     Portal 2
