James Cameron also being well backed to secure Best Director award
 
The gamble on Avatar to be voted Best Motion Picture in the Drama category at the Golden Globe Awards continues to gather momentum ahead of Sunday's ceremony.

Up In The Air remains favourite to top the voting at 4/6 with Boylesports but their customers are instead opting for a bit of value with the revolutionary box office hit.

Mixing ground-breaking imagery with a striking theme that is strong both in moral and topical terms, Avatar is already the year's most-hyped movie and is being backed to also achieve critical acclaim.

“We’ve seen a lot of money for Avatar and have slashed it from 6/1 to 11/4," said Nicola McGeady, Boylesports Entertainment spokesperson.

"The film has done incredibly well at the box office and the hype around it is probably the reason why punters are piling in. It’s easily the biggest loser in the book.”

James Cameron is also proving a popular pick to be crowned Best Director for the same film
and is now 12/5 with Boylesports to repeat his 1997 Golden Globes success with Titanic.
Kathryn Bigelow is a shade of odds-on at 5/6 to win this award for The Hurt Locker, with Up In The Air supremo Jason Reitman 5/2.

Hottest favourite of the night is the latest Pixar classic Up in the Best Animated Feature Film category and punters won't hear of defeat for this movie.

“Up is another which is very popular with the punters for the Best Animated Feature," added McGeady. "We’ve cut it to 1/5 but people are still backing it regardless.”
