Scot’s odds for gong cut after win over Rafael Nadal

Following Andy Murray’s successful passage to the semi-finals of the Australian Open this morning, WilliamHill have cut the Scot’s odds of being crowned BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2010 from 4/1 to 2/1.

SkyBet have also trimmed Murray from 4/1 to 5/2, and the firm clearly think that a Grand Slam success would put the tennis ace in a commanding position for the award, even in a World Cup year.

SkyBet’s Helen Jacobs told bettingpro:

"Given that a British male hasn’t won a Grand Slam since Fred Perry in the Thirties, if Murray wins at Melbourne Park, he is sure to go odds-on for Sports Personality of the Year."

The firm have also dropped Wayne Rooney’s odds from 7/1 to 6/1, following his four goal blitz of Hull City at the weekend.
