Bookmaker William Hill are expecting an imminent announcement that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their first child.
William Hill are offering just 2/5 that a baby is born to William and Kate in 2012, with the current favourite names John at 6/1 and Diana at 8/1, with Henry particularly popular at 10/1.
One London based Hills customer produced an original Christmas present for family members by placing a number of bets totalling £70 that the Royal couple will have a son, born in September and he will be christened ‘Arthur’. Hills offered 100/1 and should he be proved correct they will win a cool £7,000.
Another Royal wager that William Hill have accepted over the festive period is that the Queen will still married to Prince Philip come his 100th birthday. The Surrey based punter has been offered odds of 100/1 to which he promptly staked £50.
Hill’s spokesman Rupert Adams told Bettingpro.com: “There is a genuine belief that William and Kate will produce an Heir in 2012 and we have not taken a bet on any other year in almost a month.
“We think speculation will reach fever pitch in February and I for one would be very surprised if there is not an announcement in early 2012.”
