Colin Firth now 1/12 to win Best Actor award for his performance in The King’s Speech
The Fighter, The King’s Speech and The Social Network look set to dominate the Oscars this year according to
Ladbrokes.
Colin Firth is just 1/12 to scoop 'Best Actor' with Christian Bale a similarly short priced 1/9 favourite to win best supporting Actor.
The long term gamble on Firth for the Oscars will end up triggering a record payout with several 4 and 5 figure bets registered despite the short odds as fans believe he is a dead cert.
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes told Bettingpro: “We've been kept awake at night for weeks now with visions of Firth on the podium collecting multiple awards. Despite it being a sensational result for British cinema it remains our worst nightmare as Firth is the best backed Oscar nominee in history.”
