Micky Robbie and Mill Jaguar head the betting for tonight's big decider

Charlie Lister’s Mill Jaguar is the biggest loser in the book for Victor Chandler in tonight’s Nottingham Produce Stakes Final over 500 metres but 4/5 favourite Micky Robbie is still rated the one to beat.

The latter has breezed through the first three rounds with a hat-trick of wide-margin wins and Pat Rosney’s railer will relish wearing the red jacket.

“This event hasn’t been the busiest in terms of betting turnover and the only dog we have liabilities about is trap five Mill Jaguar,” said Victor Chandler trader Steve Lewis.

“The way the draw has panned out definitely enhances the prospects of the favourite in trap one and he would be difficult to beat if trapping as he looks assured of a solo to the bend given that Saint Jack in two is usually berthed wider than this and will move out.

“In doing so, he may possibly do Rainman Reg in three no favours. This one has always looked like he had a big run in him and proved it in the semis by bolting out and winning in a quick time of 30.11.

“Things could be different this time, though, as he will have to clear the inside dogs to the bend in order to show his paces and he is currently priced at 11/2.”

The Paul Sallis-trained outsiders Rock It Diva and Rock It Ronan will have to find plenty of improvement to figure but Mill Jaguar will tempt some as a value alternative to the favourite at 9/4 on his best form.

“This fellow made an excellent visual impression when storming home in front of the Sky cameras in August over 480 metres, giving a start and a beating to Saint Jack, with some decent hounds in behind,” added Lewis.

“His best effort since then came in an earlier round of this event when leading at the first bend and dishing out a comprehensive beating to the same rival and Rock It Ronan and he would be a danger to all if trapping on amber and going round in front.

“To be fair though, he was beaten entirely on merit by Rainman Reg in the semis and, as drawn, the favourite Micky Robbie, back for an autumn campaign after being off since winning the Swindon Produce Final, looks to have everything in his favour and I expect him to win!”
