The three greyhounds involved in the historic three-way dead-heat at Romford Stadium last Wednesday are preparing for a unqiue rematch at the Essex track tomorrow night
The three greyhounds, Ayamzagirl, Droopys Djokovic and Killishan Masai, were involved in the thrilling showdown over the marathon distance of 925 metres, and after a dramatic photo finish saw the judge unable to call an outright winner, connections of all three dogs quickly agreed to the re-run, called the Coral Bring It On Challenge, with prize money of £3,000, which will be staged at 8.48pm tomorrow.
Coral spokesman Simon Clare told Bettingpro: "We are absolutely thrilled to be staging what is a unique and historic rematch and are delighted that the connections of these three greyhounds have sportingly agreed to bring it on again.
"The odds of a triple dead heat occurring would normally be measured in the millions to one, like the chances of being hit by lightning, but these three dogs are clearly so closely matched that the odds of it happening again tomorrow are much, much shorter."
This is the first time that the sport of greyhound racing has staged a three dog race, with all greyhound races traditionally featuring six dogs as standard, but the extraordinary three-way dead-heat last week prompted the decision by Romford, and authorised by the Greyhound Board of Great Britain, to stage a high profile rematch.
"We are delighted that Sky Sports News are broadcasting the event live and it reflects the considerable public interest in this incredible story," added Clare.
"The media attention has been mindblowing with coverage not only in all the British national newspapers and mainstream TV, but also across the world including Australia, America and South Africa."
Christopher Kyme, owner of Killishan Masai, said: "I have never witnessed anything like Wednesday night’s finish, and am looking forward to the rematch tomorrow, and hopefully it will be another close finish, with my dog just in front!"
Droopys Djokovic’s trainer Jim Daly commented: "The rematch is great for greyhound racing, and if it’s anything like Wednesday’ race, the crowd are in for a treat.
"It’s sure to be close again, but it surely can’t be another dead-heat, can it?"
The race, with prize money of £2,000 to the winner and £500 each to the second and third, will be shown live in 1640 Coral betting shops across the UK, in addition to the Sky Sports News coverage, and entrance to the stadium will be free.
