Terry Jenkins produced an excellent performance to beat the world champion 16-12 and is as short as 6/1 to claim a Matchplay title

“Walking in a Jenkins wonderland” was the song ringing around Winter Gardens on Friday afternoon after Terry Jenkins played out of his skin to defeat world champion Adrian Lewis and book his place in the semi-final of the World Matchplay Darts.

The Bull came out of the traps flying and led for most of the match although it appeared that the writing was on the wall as Lewis clawed back to level at 11-11 only for Jenkins to pull away again to cement a famous win.

The bookies have reacted by slashing Jenkins’ odds on a first World Matchplay title and Ladbrokes offer a best price 8/1 about The Bull who will face either James Wade or Michael van Gerwen in the semi-final.

However, Phil Taylor remains as the man they have to beat and The Power’s task does look somewhat easier now that Lewis is out, with Blue Square the only firm prepared to lay 3/4 about the Stoke ace.

James Wade is a 9/2 chance (Sportingbet) although Van Gerwen will fancy his chances of making the final and is 14/1 on the outright market ahead of tonight’s quarter final matches.

Ronnie Baxter was too strong for Justin Pipe in the first quarter final and The Rocket is now a 16/1 chance to go all the way on home soil.
