Terry Jenkins bids to continue his good Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts record against Phil Taylor when the pair clash at The Brighton Centre on Thursday.

Jenkins has not been defeated by Taylor in the Premier League since the 2007 final, when he went down 16-6 in Brighton.

The Ledbury man won 8-5 during the 2008 season and has drawn their three other meetings, with Thursday's clash in Brighton giving Jenkins the chance to end Taylor's unbeaten start to the year.

"I haven't lost to him in the last two years in the Premier League and maybe I'll beat him again," said Jenkins. "I can only go up there and do my best and I'll do that.

"Against Phil you just have to get up on stage and get on with it. Everybody knows how good he is and I've got to be on top form."

Taylor drew for the first time this season when he shared the points with Mervyn King last Thursday, but won a Players Championship and a UK Open Qualifier in Wigan over the weekend.

"I'm getting back to my best and each week I'm feeling better and better," said Taylor, whose start to the Premier League season was disrupted by a virus.

"Mervyn played really well last week and I wasn't too disappointed with a draw, but I'll be ready for Terry in Brighton. He's a gritty player and always pushes you all the way, so I'll have to play at my best."

King takes on resurgent Raymond van Barneveld in the second game of the evening in Brighton, with the Dutch star having produced the highest average of the season so far at almost 107 in an 8-4 win over Jenkins last week whilst using new, lighter darts.

"I dropped two grams and they are going in all the time," he said. "I've been hitting 180s and 140s all the time in practice and last week they went in on stage.

"I know what I can do with these darts. I've done it on stage now and that may be a big thing for me.

"Mervyn is a great friend and we've known each other for many years. He's a fantastic guy but on stage we're opponents and I need the points badly."

Reigning champion James Wade's bid for a first victory sees him face Simon Whitlock in Brighton, with the left-hander having drawn his last two matches.

"I've played some great darts for the past two weeks but was awful in the first three games and deserved to lose," said Wade. "My form is back and hopefully I can get that first win at Brighton."

The night's other game sees Adrian Lewis looking to pick up his first win since week two when he meets Ronnie Baxter, as the Stoke youngster looks to bounce back from an 8-4 reverse to Whitlock in Manchester.

"I was really disappointed with my performance last week but I'm determined to get a win against Ronnie," said Lewis. "I've been practising hard and know I've got to be a lot better this Thursday."
