There are 20 Players Championship events spread over the course of the year, with the top 32 from the ProTour order of merit following the final event qualifying for the Cash Converters Players Championship finals in November.

The order of merit is also used to determine which players will qualify for selected televised major ranking events alongside the world's top 16, including the World Matchplay, World Grand Prix and World Championship.

This weekend sees the ProTour head to Crawley for events five and six of the calendar, it promises to be another highly competitive brace of £35,000 tournaments featuring 122 of the world's top stars.

Premier League quartet Gary Anderson, Raymond van Barneveld, James Wade and runner-up Simon Whitlock head the betting with each on offer at 10/1.

Justin Pipe is renowned as one of the most dangerous 'floor' players on the professional circuit and is likely to be present regularly in the later stages of these events.

He tops the ProTour rankings having earned £30,400 already from the four events, winning the first in Spain and reaching the final of the second.

He entered the world's elite top 16 for the first time following his European Tour victory in Austria recently and is priced at 12/1 for more glory in Crawley.

Wes Newton has forged his success in becoming world number five largely due to his consistent performances in these events and is available at 16/1 to pick up Saturday's title.

A whole host of other big names offer each-way value and their generous prices reflect the unpredictability of the ProTour.

John Part and Colin Lloyd boast numerous major titles to their name, along with a good record of results on the tour, making them good value at 50/1.

Paul Nicholson and Kevin Painter are among a collection of stars who tend to thrive more on the big stage, but have the undoubted ability to go all the way in any event are 33/1 outsiders for Saturday and Sunday's event.

Bad boy Ted Hankey has yet to make a huge impact in the PDC, he is priced at 66/1 to make his mark in Crawley, with fellow newcomer Dean Winstanley a 33/1 chance.

Recent World Youth Champion James Hubbard heads a list of talented young guns out to make an impact, with that bracket also including the likes of Michael Smith, Shaun Griffiths and Arron Monk.

Formidable Stoke duo Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis are set to skip the two events, but the standard is certain to be as high as ever as the season hots up.

Each non-televised event is a straight knockout not open to public viewing and played to a completion each day. All matches are the best of 11 legs with players seeded across the 16 boards.
