Taylor 16/1 For TV Events Clean Sweep

Sky Bet have slashed Phil Taylor’s odds of winning all eight televised ranking tournaments this year to 16/1 (from 33/1) after ‘The Power’ came back from three legs down to beat Colin Osborne 11-6 in the final of the Blue Square UK Open on Sunday.

The world number one is 5/6 to win the World Championships for the 13th time next year, with Sky Bet quoting 5/6 for any other player to take the title.

UK Open runner-up Osborne is quoted at 16/1 by Sky Bet in their first player to win a televised ranking event market, which is headed at 4/1 by 2009 Premier League runner-up Mervyn King and 2009 Players’ Championship finals runner-up Robert Thornton. Sky Bet have installed Osborne at 66/1 to win next season’s Premier League.

Sky Bet’s Craig Ibbotson told Bettingpro this afternoon “Taylor was outstanding throughout the weekend in averaging 106 for the tournament. However, he did tire towards the end of the day and the fitness factor certainly contributed to Osborne’s success in reaching his first major final. Osborne’s professionalism is obvious and we are certainly wary of his introduction to the Premier League in 2010. We are looking at a 6 figure payout if Taylor takes all 8 majors this year and we just have to cross our fingers and hope for a defeat in Vegas.”
