It is little surprise that Chizzy has been installed as the 9/1 favourite to pick up the title with SportingBet; after just over a year with the PDC, he has broken into the top 16 and established himself as one of the most dangerous players on the circuit.

His consistent performances week-in, week-out have seen him soar up the world rankings and become an opponent to avoid. He followed up his run to the final of the last European Tour event with yet another ProTour title in Crawley last weekend, but will have to clear some tricky hurdles en route to the latter stages of this event.

He should have little worry in seeing off Kevin Munch in his opener, but is likely to be pushed hard against either Paul Nicholson or Kim Huybrechts in the last 32.

World Champion Adrian Lewis is the 10/1 second favourite and will have the bookmakers running scared should he showcase his unrivalled natural talent in the latest three-day event.

Despite preferring the big stage in TV events, Jackpot has produced improved results in floor events of late and will be out to send out a message going into the World Matchplay on the back of a good run in Dusseldorf.

James Wade, Justin Pipe, Raymond van Barneveld and Simon Whitlock follow next in the market, each priced at 12/1.

Wade has suffered a slump in form of late but turned his fortunes around with a run to a ProTour Semi-Final recently; he appears short-priced given his shock exit to Mensur Suljovic in the early rounds of the last European Tour event but is capable of turning on the style at any time if he matches his 'A' game with the correct mind set.

Justin Pipe has been shortened in the absence of Phil Taylor and Gary Anderson and will be out to do yet more damage in this event after he won the inaugural title in April.

Barney and Whitlock possess the unquestioned ability to reach the business end, while Wes Newton is always a popular choice to do well in tour events and will be well-fancied again at 14/1.

Colin Lloyd comes into the tournament in a rich vein of form after ending his two-year wait for a PDC title by winning Sunday's Players Championship event in Crawley.

Jaws fired in a magical nine-darter along with numerous ton-plus averages in the last Euro event in Berlin and provides strong each-way value at 33/1 should he avoid an upset in the early rounds.

Premier League wildcards Andy Hamilton and Kevin Painter will be out to do damage prior to Blackpool at 33/1 and 50/1 respectively, while Belgium's Kim Huybrechts, who is joined in the event by his brother Ronny, will be a danger at 33/1 but faces a difficult opener against none other than Paul Nicholson.

The non-televised event runs from July 6-8, with all matches played over the best of 11 legs in front of a bumper crowd at the Maritim Hotel in Dusseldorf.
