Sky Bet have installed Gary Anderson as 3/1 favourite to win the BDO Darts Championship, which gets underway at the Lakeside on January 3rd. Anderson has been knocked out in the first round for the last two years but Sky Bet make him 4/11 to beat Robert Wagner in his opening match.
Sky Bet’s darts compiler, Craig Ibbotson, said, “On paper, Anderson is the best player in the field. However, he has a poor record at the Lakeside so we’re happy to take him on in a tournament which could throw up some surprises.”
Reigning champion, Mark Webster, is Sky Bet’s 9/2 second favourite and 1/5 to beat Willy Van de Wiel (10/3) in round one.
Last year’s beaten finalist, Simon Whitlock, is 8/1 to go one better and take the title this year. The Australian meets Mark Barilli in his opening match and is 4/11 to win (Barilli 2/1).
Sky Bet are also offering odds on the tournament winning double and make double 20 3/1 favourite.
