With nine stages done and dusted we have already seen some big names withdraw; Wiggins, Vinokourov, Horner, Brajkovic and Van Den Broek, just to name a few, and all due to crashes.

The battle for the yellow Jersey will heat up during stage 12 when the race enters the Pyrenees, and with quite a few of the overall contenders now out of the race, the hunt for the yellow jersey looks a little like this...

Cadel Evans: Hasn't put a foot wrong so far, has been in all the right positions and looks to be in career best form.

Andy Schleck: Trails Evans by just 11 seconds, which is nothing when the race hits the high mountains. He's probably the most natural climber at the Tour, but his time trialing is still a question mark.

Frank Schleck: Hasn't missed a beat either, and is only three seconds behind Evans. Like his brother he is a natural climber, but there is an even bigger question mark over his time trialing ability.

Alberto Contador: Has probably had the worst start to a grand tour in his whole career due to crashes. and consequently now trails Evans by 1:41. By no means write him off though. He has won every grand tour he has competed in, which includes three Tour De Frances, two Tour of Italy's and a Tour of Spain. He is still the man.

Ivan Basso: The Italian has gone almost unnoticed, but only trails the current leader by 1:03. He knows how to win a Grand Tour and skipped his home Tour this year in order to put all of his focus into the Grand Boucle. He could be the smokey.
