 With only an 8 second deficit between 1st and 2nd, it would appear that there is much to fight for in the hunt for the yellow jersey, however, William Hill have leader Alberto Contador as the 2/11 favourite to win, whilst Andy Schleck is the 7/2 second favourite.

 Britain’s Mark Cavendish once a hot prospect for the points classification has seen his challenge for the green jersey take a hammering and he now finds himself a distant 20/1 chance to win, behind Alessandro Petacchi (4/5) and Thor Hushovd (Evs).

With the race having one final stage in the mountains now, it seems as though Anthony Charteau has got the polka dot jersey wrapped up. He is priced at 2/5, with his nearest rival Christophe Moreau priced at 17/10.

“We have more than an idea of who will win the yellow and polka dot jerseys, however, it seems that the green jersey is really in the balance, and it will be all to play for in the final few days,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.
