Mark Cavendish is now the 1-6 favourite with Coral bookmakers to win the Tour de France green jersey for finishing as the top sprinter and points scorer.
The HTC rider came through a difficult time in the Pyrenees to secure his fourth win of the Tour, and his nineteenth overall, with a win on Sunday and only has to survive the climbs of the Alps to secure his first green jersey in Paris in six days time.
“No one deserves the glory more than Cavendish, and with only three tough Alpine climbs standing in his way, it looks like the long awaited green jersey could finally be coming his way,” said Coral spokesman Gary Burton.
It’s still very open for the overall win, with 13-8 favourite Andy Schleck, Cadel Evans and Alberto Contador heading the betting from yellow jersey leader, Thomas Voeckler, at 8-1.
It looks a match for the polka dot jersey for the best climber between Samuel Sanchez and Jelle Vanendert and both are priced at 11-10 with Coral.
