Astana Star Contador backed ahead of team mate Lance
Team mates and former winners Alberto Contador and Lance Armstrong will be going head to head as this years Tour De France gets under way in Monaco on Saturday, and it's the Spanish 2007 champion that has attracted the pre race money, Contador is now the 10-11 (from Evens) with Coral bookmakers, Armstrong is the 5-1 second favourite.
Gary Burton from Coral told Bettingpro this afternoon "Armstong was the one we expected to lay being a top price 5-1, but all the early money has been for Contador, which could imply that Lance will be playing a supporting role to his Astana team mate"
Britain's Mark Cavendish is the odds on 10-11 favourite to continue his superb year by winning the sprinters Green Jersey.
