British Stars lead the way and look to next year
Following a record breaking Tour de France for British riders Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish, Coral bookmakers have quoted prices on both for next years event and make Wiggins 16-1 to win and lift the yellow jersey, and 4-1 to be on the podium. Mark Cavendish is 33-1 to better his record performance of 6 stage wins and 4-6 to take the sprinters green jersey.
Gary Burton from Coral told Bettingpro "It's been a fantastic Tour for our boys and good for punter interest too with Bradley's British best 4th place adding to betting turnover, and Cav always well supported in the sprint stages, lets hope this is a sign of things to come and hopefully it will be even better next year"?
Regarding the result this year, Burton added, "We finished slightly in front on the event overall, the outright result was a good one for us as Lance was backed at all odds, but we lost quite a lot on the Cavendish stage wins and the opening time trial won by Cancellara"?
