Contador Still Holds Tour Advantage after Stage 8

- 12 Jul 2009

Alberto Contador still holds a slim two second advantage over team mate Lance Armstrong and remains the 2-7 favourite with Coral bookmakers after an uneventful 8th stage at the top of the leader board.

Contador sits six seconds behind the yellow jersey of Italian Rinaldo Nocentini but has that crucial gap between himself and the other main contenders as we head to the final stage in the Pyranees on Sunday.

"Some thought Lance might make an effort to turn the deficit on Contador today, but as the leaders chose not to ride in anger, Armstrong may be hoping to hold on to his team mate until stage 18, and then push for it in that final time trial" Coral spokesman Gary Burton told Bettingpro.

Armstrong is the 5-1 second favourite behind Contador at 2-7
