2012 Tour de France latest – Cavendish finishes second in stage 5

Despite finishing second on stage five, William Hill make Mark Cavendish their 13/10 favourite to go one better and win stage six.

Cavendish’s conqueror, Andre Griepel, is 7/5 with Matt Goss and Peter Sagan out to 10/1. William Hill have pushed Cavendish out to 5/1 to win the Points Classification at the tour, with Greipel leapfrogging him in the betting to 4/1 second favourite behind Sagan at 4/9.

Hill’s spokesman Rupert Adams told Bettingpro.com: “There are narrow margins at this level and so far Cav has not had the luck. He needs to come up trumps on Friday or his focus might shift towards the Olympics.”
