Zimbabwe v New Zealand 2nd T20I preview and live streaming from Harare

The second T20I between Zimbabwe and New Zealand will be played at the Harare Sports Club in Harare on October 17. The game begins at 1200 hours GMT (1400hours local).

New Zealand were always expected to be favourites going into the first T20I and the series itself but the ruthless manner in which they steamrolled over the hosts was almost pitiable. First, the Kiwi bowlers choked the Zimbabweans to a meagre 123 despite the decent start they had had, before achieving the target with almost seven overs and ten wickets to spare.

To top it all, Zimbabwe were hit by an injury to their captain Brendan Taylor – he had also been their top-scorer with a 46-ball 50 – and it now remains to be seen whether he has recovered from his concussion enough to take part in the second T20I.

New Zealand will look to go into the game with the same 11 despite the obvious temptation to play some of the other guys. However, the short nature of the first game only meant that none of the batsmen, bar the openers, got a look-in. Similarly, new-comers like Luke Woodcock and Doug Bracewell may not mind a better workout than the one they had in the first game.

Interestingly, Zimbabwe had gone into the game with only one frontline pace bowler, in a probable bid to restrict the Kiwis with their slow bowlers. The tactic clearly did not work and it may not be such a bad idea to get back Christopher Mpofu. His experience could prove handy.

New Zealand will be strong favourites to make it 2-0.
