St Vincent will continue to remain the host of the third game of the ODI series between Australia and West Indies on Tuesday.

West Indies recorded their first win over Australia in six years, on a track that was made batting seem quite difficult. For the second game in a row, Australia batted first and were sent packing for a below-par score. However, unlike the first ODI, the West Indies’ chase overcame the desire to implode and went on to win with 10 balls to spare.

In a way the West Indian side were fortunate to win the toss and field first on a gloomy day at Kingstown in St. Vincent. The Australian innings stalled after five overs when rain forced the players off the field and on return, they had to restart their then-shortened innings.

Of course, West Indies bowled rather well through Kemar Roach (2/23) and Sunil Narine (4/27) and Australia failed to get going on that pitch.

West Indies will not make any changes to the side unless there are last-minute injuries. They are without any reserve batsmen in their squad and their bowling has done well enough in both the games.

Australia could look at their line-up more carefully. They seem to be playing with an extra batsman and while they need that buffer, they could also do with a frontline bowling option. Nathan Lyon has a realistic chance of making it to the playing 11.

If the management considers that playing two spinners is a bit of a luxury, it could still make sense to bring in one of Ben Hilfenhaus or James Pattinson in place of a Dan Christian or even a frontline batsman.

Things will be no different for the batting teams in the third ODI and with more rain predicted over the next two days, expect the bowlers to get a lot more help.

The West Indies v Australia third ODI will begin from 1.30 pm GMT on March 20.
