The 12th game of the KFC Big Bash will be played between New South Wales Blues and the Victorian Bushrangers at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on January 22.

Rather surprisingly, the two teams have been languishing at the bottom of the points table. The Bushrangers, who have entered the final of the tournament on all five occasions that the tournament has been played have only two point from four games and now not only need to win both their games but also hope for divine intervention to have any hope of qualifying for the knock-out.

The Blues, on the other hand, have a win from three games and have another three games in hand. They definitely need to start winning after going down in a close game against Tasmania because another loss here will put them in the same situation as Victoria – needing to win both the remaining games and praying hard!

One thing is almost certain, one of Victoria or New South Wales may not go on to play in the knock-out rounds of the tournament.

Despite the fact that the Bushrangers have lost three of their four games, they go into this match as favourites with an offer of 8/13 (William Hill) as compared to the 6/5 (William Hill) that New South Wales have.

Unfortunately for the Victorian side, they will be without many of their international stars like the last game – David Hussey, Cameron White, Peter Siddle are all on Australian duties. This makes New South Wales favourites given that they have their in-form Dave Warner and Usman Khawaja at the top of the order, with the likes of Moises Henriques and Phil Hughes to follow. Victorian stand-in skipper Brad Hodge will have a lot on his plate.
