The tournament had to be constituted after the Stanford T20 had gone bust last year after the arrest of its promoter, Allen Stanford. Last season, Trinidad and Tobago had won the Stanford T20 which ensured their qualification for the Champions League T20. This year, they will battle against the likes of Jamaica, Leeward Islands, Guyana, Windward Islands, Barbados and Combined Campuses and Colleges apart from an international team in Canada. The eight sides are divided into two groups of four each and will face each other in the group stage. Each team will play three games each and the top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals. The semi-finals will be followed by the game for the third place and the final. The winner of the final will go through to the Champions League T20. The two groups, or zones as they call it will be as follows:Zone A: Canada, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Leeward IslandsZone B: Guyana, Windward Islands, Barbados, CCC The final will be played on the 31st of July. Trinidad and Tobago will go into the tournament as favourites, with an offer of 15/8 (Sporting Bet) for their win, while Stan James offers 9/2 for a Jamaican win. Barbados (5/1 at Stan James) and Guyana (7/1 at Boylesports) are the next two favourites out of the eight teams.
