Sachin Tendulkar missed out on his 100th century in international cricket when he was dismissed for 38 at Eden Gardens in the first innings of the Kolkata Test.

India, who had won the first Test match at Delhi after a tricky fourth innings chase, went into the second game as favourites, to win the three-match series. Despite the relatively early dismissal of Tendulkar, India were 1/3 (Coral) to win the second game to 25/1 (BetFred) for West Indies to make a comeback into the series.

It is 11/4 (bet365) for a drawn game.

Tendulkar, who had made his 99th international century on March 12, has had the country awaiting the century with bated breath for what should be his 100th century. He has 51 hundreds in the Test match cricket and 48 in ODIs.

When Tendulkar got out in the first innings of the Kolkata Test match, India were 205/3 with Gautam Gambhir and Rahul Dravid having passed 50. Gambhir scored 65, while Dravid was unbeaten on 56 when he was dismissed by Devendra Bishoo.

At tea, India had got to 212/3 with Dravid having VVS Laxman for company. Darren Sammy and Fidel Edwards were the other wicket-takers.

India had gone into the Test match with the same side that beat West Indies in the first Test match while West Indies got in Adrian Barath for Kieran Powell and Kemar Roach came in for the unfit Ravi Rampaul.
