The final of the KFC Big Bash T20 will be played between South Australia Redbacks and New South Wales Blues at Adelaide on February 5.

South Australia (17/20 at SportingBet) have had an excellent tournament and apart from their one loss in the first game that they had played in early January, they have won everything else. This ensured that they had topped the group and qualified for the final, with the advantage of hosting it at home.

Interestingly, the Redbacks’ sole defeat came at the hands of the New South Wales (11/10 at Coral) side, who then lost three of their remaining five matches. Better net run-rate saw them through to the preliminary final where David Warner’s (5/2 at SkyBet to top-score for his side again) swashbuckling innings made mincemeat of Tasmania and this put them in this final clash.

Warner’s knock came about after the Tigers had been bowled out for a lowly 103 but it was a rampage at its best. On the other hand, South Australia, who have often relied on Callum Ferguson, will miss him for the final because he is away on international duties. With Kieron Pollard not available for the same reason it will boil down to the pair of Michael Klinger (15/4 at bet365) and Daniel Harris (3/1 at bet365) to get the side the runs.

17-year old Patrick Cummins has clearly been the find of the bowling this season for the Blues and could be banked upon to provide early breakthroughs. With two of the top four best bowlers in the tournament being New South Wales pace bowlers, how South Australia bat at the start of the innings will probably go a long way in deciding the course of the game.

South Australia have never won the title before while New South Wales have won the KFC Big Bash T20 once. Both have qualified for Champions League T20 once before with the Blues having won the inaugural edition of the tournament as well.
