Royal Challengers Bangalore v Kings XI Punjab India IPL Game 47 at Bangalore Preview and Tips

The 47th game of the IPL will see the Royal Challengers Bangalore play the King XI Punjab at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.

The home game puts the Bangalore side firmly in pedestal to win their fourth in a row, even as Punjab looks to overcome their three-match losing streak.

Bangalore v Punjab odds:
Both sides, Bangalore (8/13 at Stan James) and Punjab have had blips in the tournament. However, Bangalore has been able to recover from their four match winless streak and got back to their winning ways while the Kings XI Punjab (6/4 at Blue Square) have yet to get back to their winning ways.

Bangalore will be favourites, more so because they have the personnel and the momentum to counter what has been a feeble charge from Punjab in the last few games.

Ground and Pitch:
Usually a bouncy pitch, the track at M Chinnaswamy stadium hasn’t seen a game played here for about a week. This should have given the curator enough time to allow the pitch to get back to its easy way and that is a suitable indicator to the fact that the track will be easy to bat on.

Player News:
The Royal Challengers Bangalore have begun to get to get rolling ever since Chris Gayle (5/2 at Blue Square) joined the side. There was a century and a quick-fire knock of 40 that pushed the side to a couple of those wins, in the process, helping the middle-order overcome their inhibitions.

Interestingly, the baton has been passed well by Gayle to Virat Kohli (4/1 at BetFred), who has now won two man of the match awards in a row. The aggression, that had been missing from Kohli’s bat in the first portion of the tournament seems to have re-arrived and the Kings XI Punjab will need to watch out for the way they bowl to him.

There is a chance that Tillakaratne Dilshan (10/3 at Blue Square), who has not only not got too many but also seems to have mentally packed up for his international commitments will be replaced. The side needs to strengthen their bowling and this could be their best chance to do so.

Punjab’s middle-order batting woes continue to haunt them. Where the problems compound, is that the oppositions seem to have read the manner in which to bowl to the blazing bat of Paul Valthaty (7/2 at Blue Square). With Adam Gilchrist (10/3 at Paddy Power) having yet to get a big one and David Hussey (5/1 at BetFred) looking a tad off-colour as well, the onus will, once again, be on Shaun Marsh (4/1 at Stan James) to shore up the innings.

Prediction:
Bangalore will be favourites to win it but expect a surprise or two from the Punjab batting.
