Indian newspaper The Times of India has reported that Peter Roebuck had committed suicide by jumping off his hotel room window.

It had earlier been reported that Roebuck had passed away, aged 55, when he committed suicide late evening in Cape Town. One of the most famed international cricket writer, Roebuck was in South Africa to cover the Australia's tour of South Africa.

According to ToI, there was uniformed police in the room when Roebuck committed suicide from his sixth floor room. He was allegedly been questioned by the sexual crime branch detective on sexual harassment charges. 

Roebuck, who was an ex-Somerset captain, wrote for many an international publications like the Sydney Morning Herald and The Hindu in India. The exact cause for Roebuck to take such a drastic step is not yet known.
