Paul Collingwood advocates change in D-L system for T20Is Visit Ladbrokes Save For Later Posted by Suneer Chowdhary 5 May 2010 Tweet Related Articles See all Twenty20 World Cup news Share it Pin It An angry Paul Collingwood, the captain of England, lambasted the Duckworth-Lewis system and called it unfit for the T20 format of the game on Monday. Collingwood was speaking at a press conference immediately after England had lost their first game of the ICC World T20 to the West Indies at Guyana in a rain-shortened encounter. Collingwood said that while the Duckworth-Lewis system worked well for the ODIs, it did not do so for the T20Is. England had scored 191 in their 20 overs against West Indies, only to be thwarted by the rains which ensured that the match was reduced to six overs-a-side, and the target was reduced only to 60. The English captain added that he thought that 95% of the time, one would think that you would win in case of such a huge total and yet, it was impossible to feel the same whilst defending 60 off six. Collingwood also cited the example of the last time such an incident had occurred, when the same two sides, West Indies and England were playing in the 2009 edition of the ICC World T20 in England. England had lost that game as well. Later, England scraped through to the Super Eights stage, after rain ensured that the game against Ireland would be called off. England had scored only 120 in their 20 overs. Boylesports offers 15/2 for England to lift the trophy, while West Indies is at 10/1 (Boylesports) to do the same. With their clinical disposal of Bangladesh, Australia continue to be favourites as Stan James offers 3/1 for their victory.
